Campground Park Attendant / Maintenance

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Park Manager, the Park Attendants are responsible for ensuring park visitors have a memorable
park experience and that our parks are kept safe and clean! Duties include welcoming visitors, providing
information to guests, cleaning campsites, cleaning washrooms and pit toilets, removing garbage and recycling,
landscape cleanup and maintenance, and collecting fees.

PERSONAL QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
• Ability and willingness to perform active/physical work for up to 8 hours and be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Practical experience in manual labour such as groundskeeping, gardening, farming or related work.
• Work both independently and as part of a team with professional communication skills.
• Passionate about outdoor recreation and parks systems.
• Self-motivated and proactive in the workplace.
• Ability to record pertinent information and write reports.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Seasonal employment starts in March and can last until late October. Our main busy season is from the
May long weekend until the Labour Day weekend.
• Day shifts – ability to work weekends and holidays.
• Full and part-time work is offered. Full- time work is 35-40 hours per week.
• Wages range from $18 – $24 pr hour plus 4% vacation pay.
• Uniform is supplied.

WORK LOCATIONS: Victoria, Sooke Parksville/Qualicum, Port Alberni and Sunshine Coast.
• Parks in Victoria area – Goldstream.
• Parks in Sooke area – French Beach, Juan de Fuca and China Beach.
• South Gulf Islands – Ruckle Park (Saltspring Island) and Montegue Harbour (Galiano Island)
• Parks in Parksville /Qualicum area- Rathtrevor Beach, Englishman River, Little Qualicum, Horne Lake,
Descanso Bay (Gabriola Island) and Nanaimo Parks.
• Parks in Port Alberni area – Sproat Lake and Stamp River.
• Parks on Sunshine Coast – Saltery Bay and Inland Lake.

QUALIFICATIONS AND APPLICATION:
• Please submit a cover letter with completed application form (www.rlcparks.ca/employment)
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Drivers Abstract required up hiring)
• Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector required upon hiring)
• Current First Aid Certification (OFA) – an asset
• Provide your own transportation to and from work
